Minimally Invasive Surgery

Minimally Invasive Surgery

Here at Northwest Women’s Healthcare we are experienced in the entire range of surgical options available to treat conditions of the female reproductive tract.  We tailor the surgical approach to meet each individual patient’s needs combining sound clinical judgment with a goal for quick recovery and leaving a small footprint.  The vast majority of procedures can be done in a minimally invasive way via laparoscopy and most patients are candidates for this approach.  Several of our providers offer Davinci robotic surgery, providing enhanced optics and decreased tissue trauma with the possibility of superior outcomes.

Laparoscopic hysterectomy and robotic hysterectomy are associated with a 1-2 week recovery in most cases.  In the vast majority of these procedures we leave the ovaries in, avoiding hormonal changes. Patients with uterine fibroids who desire surgical management but do not want to lose their uterus can consider the advantages of a laparoscopic myomectomy. Management of endometriosis and ovarian cysts are also amenable to a laparoscopic approach.

The benefits of minimally invasive surgery cannot be overstated. They include less pain, faster recovery, lower risk of infection, minimal blood loss, superior cosmetics, and are primarily outpatient or overnight hospital stays.
